Great Teaching Ideas with Solar Beads!

*  Use some string, leather lacing or shoelaces to make UV bead bracelets or necklaces.

*  Show kids the difference with the UV Beads of inside lighting to outside sunlight.  Go into the shade of a tree.  Go inside a vehicle (parking brake on please!). 

*  Show kids the difference between different strength sun blocks using a glass or tube or plastic Ziploc bag with sun block on it and putting the UV beads inside the glass, tube or bag.

*  Test your sunglasses and eyeglasses to see how much UV light gets through into your eyes!

*  Test different types of glass (vehicles, school windows, glass doors) and light bulbs (CFL, LED, florescent and black lights).

*  Teach kids what makes the the Solar Beads change color (UV Light from the Sun) and its effects (Suntans, Sunburns and Cancer).

*  The sun's UV light changes at different Altitudes, check them on your next hike!
